Ubisoft have revealed details of newly announced iOS and Android title, Assassin’s Creed Utopia. The spin off title is a strategy simulation, set during early colonial America.
In Assassin’s Creed Utopia, players will establish their own 17th century colony, home to the deadliest Assassins of the time. As 150 years pass, players will see their colony grow and watch their Assassins working behind the scenes to influence history.
Utopia allows players to battle their friends in asychronous 3D brawls, or work with them to defeat their enemies in “limited time epic battles”. Asides from a shared narrative, the games will not be linked so neither one is required to fully enjoy the other. This was clarified by Andreane Meunier, producer of Assassin’s Creed who stated at E3 that “There are no links between the games but the narrative will lead into the AC3 narrative, since it’s a kind of pre-era to the Assassin’s Creed 3 era.”
The other Assassin’s Creed III spin-off title, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, is due for release on October 31st alongside the main title and Utopia. Liberation introduces the series first female protagonist, Aveline – armed with a machete, blowpipe and duelling pistols. The title will also reward unlockables for Connor to use in Asssassin’s Creed III.
Assassin’s Creed Utopia is scheduled for a winter release, most likely coinciding with the October 31st Xbox 360 and PS3 launch date for Assassin’s Creed 3.
