Valve have announced a brand new co-op game mode for toon-style shooter, Team Fortress, that will see the popular crew take on an army of machines.

Mann vs. Machine is a new co-operative game for Team Fortress 2 that lets you and five friends wage a desperate battle to stop a lethal horde of robots from deploying a bomb in one of Mann Co.’s many strongholds.

Gray Mann has built an unstoppable automaton army with a single purpose: to destroy all things Mann Co. In addition to regular robots, they are a few Special Robots that look very familiar, including Steel Gauntlet, Demoknight, Bowman, Minor League Scout, Quick Fix Medic, Heavyweight Champ, Uber Medic and Sydney Sniper. Bomb carrying robots, Giant robots and Sentry Busters will also be keeping you on your toes.

“Horde” is very much the key word as this new co-op mode is very similar to the horde and firefight style of gameplay where the team will have to survive all the waves in any of a variety of missions to earn “incredible loot”. As per usual, players have the option to upgrade their abilities and weapons between waves.

The first map to be revealed is the Mannworks Quicklime Factory which is under attack by a robot army. Saxton Hale has got things under control however and has “found six criminals and armed them” as they run around and shoot everything that moves.
