Disney Interactive have announced development of a sequel to the hugely successful Epic Mickey, titled Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power Of Two. Set for release in fall, the game is an “all-new adventure of creativity and discovery” which will allow gamers to play as Mickey Mouse and, for the first time ever, Oswald The Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first animated creation.

Epic Mickey 2 returns to Wii, as well as making the leap to 360 and PS3 and will be developed once again by Disney Interactive’s development studio Junction Point. Creative director and VP, Warren Spector, spoke of his love of the Disney characters and the joy he feels working on the title.

“As a life-long Disney fan, working with Mickey Mouse in the original ‘Disney Epic Mickey’ was a truly humbling experience. Millions of fans fell in love with Mickey as a video game hero and I know they’ll experience similar emotions when they get to interact with and actually play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in ‘Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.’”

The game returns players to Wasteland, an alternate world which is filled with forgotten Disney theme parks and characters. In Epic Mickey 2, Mickey and Oswald must team up and use their individual abilities, Mickey wielding paint and thinner with his magical paint brush and Oswald commanding electricity with his remote control.

Co-op play enhances the innovative “PlayStyle Matters” game mechanic which was pioneered by Warren Spector, allowing players to dynamically solve challenges but face consequences for their chosen actions.

Disney musicals are loved all across the world and Junction Point have worked hard to make this game a true Disney experience, bringing in Emmy-award winning composer James Dooley, alongside renowned lyricist Mike Himmelstein to create the first video game which can actually be called a “musical”. Characters in Epic Mickey 2 will express themselves in song, advancing the plot. Players will also influence the music, their choices changing the music that they hear essentially allowing them to customise their own soundtrack.

To further enhance the audio, characters will actually speak to players, voiced by authentic Disney voice actors. Notably, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit will be speaking for the first ever time.

With all of the work Junction Point are putting into creating an authentic Disney enthusiast, Epic Mickey 2 is sure to tickle the fancy of Disney enthusiasts the small world over.
